Recovery Beauty -

Out of all the things that I wanted to happen in the lead up to my holidays, getting struck down with a killer flu definitely wasn’t one of them. When I get really ill, my common sense goes out the window and I go into nil-by-mouth mode, including water, which of course tortures my skin by lack of hydration. The limbs get dry, the face gets flaky, the lips get chapped. Not pretty. To get everything back in working order again, it’s a case of: A) start drinking fluids again duh Angie and B) Bring out the skin-restoring big guns to set things to rights. Here’s what helped me survive my sick days…

Kosmea Rose Hip Oil*: I’m a total Rose Hip addict and this little beauty didn’t disappoint. It was just what my parched skin needed to re-hydrate and soften up any rough patches (of which there were plenty).

Black Chicken Remedies Balm of Ages*: Is there anything this balm can’t do? I haven’t come across anything yet. This really was a savior for my cracked lips and red raw, tissue-abused nose.

Radical Skincare Exfoliating Pads: These were a godsend as I started recovering, transforming my dull, congested skin to something akin to normalcy in a mere swipe of a serum soaked pad. Used over the course of a few days, you might even mistake yourself for a fully functioning human being again.

Lonvitalite C8 Collagen Crystal Eye masks*: The area around my eyes were in a sad, sad state during this flu; if you think you’ve seen sunken, dark circles before, think of those and multiply by a million, and you would be close to what I was sporting. These eye masks give those dark circles the heave-ho and inject some much needed hydration back into the area. I pop them in the fridge for about half an hour before use and the whole experience just gets even better. (If you use the code “maquillage” at check-out you will receive 10% off as well. Huzzah!)

Vanessa Megan Cocoa Coconut Body Cream*: This is my first foray into Vanessa Megan’s organic skincare range, and already I’m a big fan. This body lotion is not only a gun at re-hydrating your limbs without feeling greasy (my favourite type of moisturiser), but also smells completely delicious. So after I was bed-bound for days on end, at least the yummy scent of this product was able to cover up the fact that I couldn’t remember the last time I made it to the shower. I’ve painted a really pretty picture of myself when I’m sick haven’t I!

So over to you. What products do you depend on when the flu has taken you as its prisoner?

  • Tasha

Great products, they seriously sound like lifesavers. I’ve been trying Vanessa Megan’s hand cream and by golly it is beautiful! The scent is supposed to destress and help you sleep better and I think it does? Regardless, it’s very soothing. I definitely reach for hydrating products when I’m sick too, as well as having a relaxing bath which I rarely do!

Ooh will have to pick up the hand cream to try, I seem to be building a little collection of amazing smelling hand creams at the moment so I think it would be right at home there :)

  • Jasmine Huston

ohhh I want to try that balm now! Sounds nice!

It’s so good! It has been a life saver this winter!

  • Ingrid @ IngStyle

I got the killer flu after my holiday so I slept it off but it was the pizzle.

All I could to was to be low maintenance and I used the jojoba oil from the jojoba company as a moisturiser, serum, lip balm and eye cream. Easy does it X

It was such a horrible bug wasn’t it! I didn’t go far from my bed for about three days, but I find it really hard to get decent sleep when I’m sick, thank god for DVD’s and iPads :) xx

  • Sheri

The Lonvitalite eye masks sound amazing! This is the first I’ve heard of the Black Chicken Balm but it sounds like a cool multipurpose product.

Lonvitalite prodz are total gems, love everything I’ve tried from them so far… The BC balm is brilliant, so I pretty much carry it around with me everywhere!

  • Andrea @ Sublime Finds

Totally agree that post-flu you need a good exfoliate! I’ve been using the Go-To exfoliation pads… winners. I can’t go past the SK-II facial treatment mask for moisture. Hope you’re fully mended now! x

    • Angie

Yes all mended now, it was such a horrible virus though!! I really need to try the Go To products, might start with the exfoliating pads when I run out of the Radical ones. I’ve heard sooo much about the SK-II mask, really need to get on and try them out! x
