The Look: MAC Melba

Mac Melba review - themaquillage.com.au
In an effort to get off on a good foot with my 2015 beauty resolutions, the stash is being actively shopped and I’ve made my first ‘I thought I needed it but I actually don’t’ discovery. *Cue applause*. Lately I’ve been eyeing off matte blush options of the peachy-coral variety to offset all the pink and shimmery options I have on hand at the moment, and lo and behold, a hunt through the stash unearthed MAC Melba – pretty much the exact thing I was considering buying. Clearly, this whole beauty resolutions thing came not a moment too soon.

MAC Melba, $41

Melba is a matte, soft coral-peach, and featured in MAC’s Rebecca Moses “Brown” Face Kit from 2013. While I immediately became infatuated with the eyeshadows in this kit, (namely “All that Glitters”, aka the best eyeshadow on the planet), Melba flew under my radar. At the time I was at it non-stop with the NARS blushes Deep Throat and Amour, so Melba’s peachy tones passed me by.

I can easily see Melba becoming the go-to option when I’m after a natural, healthy looking glow. This blush is packed to the gills with pigmentation, so I make sure I start with a light sweep and build up if I need to. The matte formula likes to hang out on my skin for a very respectable amount of time as well, especially when I’ve got a setting powder in the mix.

And look! My hair is not in a bun! Another beauty resolution achieved.

MAC Melba blended and swatched

At the moment, my go-to makeup mix is Melba with Rimmel’s Match Perfection, the Australis Fresh and Flawless pressed powder, All That Glitters eyeshadow, a slick of mascara and MAC’s Ravishing lipstick. Five minute face nailed.

Have you tried Melba? Which blush shades are you rocking at the moment? Let me know in the comments!

Love ittttt, everything looks so damn good on you! This is one of the MAC blushes that I’m lusting after, but really can’t justify! I just love that it’s a slightly deeper, more browny peach.

Aw thanks! I’m just glad I found it hiding away rather than going out and buying something similar, it really is such a great every day shade!

So… I was totally enabled by you to go to MAC because of this post! You look stunning and thank you for the super helpful swatches as well. I ended up with Peaches but it was such a close call, have you tried it?
